The Governing Body is committed to the school’s mission ‘Glorifying God through outstanding, enjoyable education’ and to raising the standards of achievement of all of our pupils and students.

The membership of the Governing Body comprises both elected and nominated representatives: parents, staff, the community and Local Authority.

Chair of Governors
James Ewins KC
James has been a governor at Saint Cecilia’s since 2017. He has been a member of the resources committee for most of that time and has also participated in various appointment, disciplinary, and other panels. James was appointed as chair of governors in 2021. His vision is for the governing body at Saint Cecilia’s to reflect the diversity of the student body and the local community and to draw upon the governors’ wide variety of backgrounds, skills and experience to provide vision, ethos and strategic direction to the school leadership and staff. James’ eldest child recently completed his A Levels at Saint Cecilia’s’ having been there since Year 7 and his youngest is about to join us in September. James is also a parent governor at Lady Margaret School, Parsons Green, where his two daughters are pupils. James is married to Revd. Tiff Ewins and attends St Michael’s Church, Wandsworth Common.

Vice Chair
Martin Andrews
Martin joined the governing body in 2016. He has served on both the resources committee and faith committee and is currently a member of the curriculum and standards committee and chair of the admissions committee. He was appointed Vice Chair of Governors in 2020 and has served on panels set up for senior appointments and disciplinary matters, as and when required.  His background is in education, having been Headteacher of a local primary school before becoming an inspector and, latterly, advisor for Southwark Diocesan Schools, before retirement. Martin and his wife have lived in Southfields for 40 years and attend Emmanuel Church, Wimbledon. He values the opportunity of supporting Saint Cecilia’s within the community it serves, particularly the way in which Christian values underpin all that the school does. His role is to support the Chair of Governors in pursuing the vision and ethos of the school.
