Friday Night Nets

On Friday 3rd May, we hosted the annual Friday Night Nets event where our Senior 1st netball team played against Graveney School’s Senior 1st team. The atmosphere was electric all evening, with music, half time entertainment, a shooting challenge and a BBQ. Our girls, led by captain Amy H, won the match, but it was a nail-biting finish as they scored with less than 10 seconds to the final whistle to secure the win! Well done girls!

Pupil Library Assistant Awards

“Two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend the finals of the Pupil Library Assistant Awards 2024, an annual award made to recognise great contributions of pupil librarians. Although I did not win the award, I still had an amazing time!

The event was held at Pearson Publishing on The Strand. After arriving, I was introduced to Jane Elson (an author who represented me in the awards). Each finalist stood up in front of everyone while their author read out the reason they made it to the finals (a very embarrassing experience!), before author Joseph Coelho (Children's Laureate) announced the winner and gave everyone their prizes. After the ceremony, all the authors gave each finalist signed copies of their books and I went home with about 30 books! It was an amazing day!” Joe S-L, Year 9

A Level Drama Final Pieces

Before Easter, Drama A Level students performed their final performance as part of an evening showcase to friends and family. Year 13s performed an adapted version of The ‘House of Bernarda Alba’ by Garcia Lorca. The play’s action takes place in the home of Bernarda Alba after the funeral of her second husband. The students performed this with huge success, displaying incredible professionalism and maturity in their approach to their roles. The evening was fantastic and it was a brilliant opportunity to show off all their hard work over the last two years. The Drama Department is incredibly proud of them all.

Lewis Hamilton Designs

Pupils were invited to enter a competition to design a helmet for Sir Lewis Hamilton. The prize included the winning helmet design being photographed with Lewis at a 2024 Grand Prix event, as well as exclusive F1-signed merchandise and experiences. The judges will be looking for designs that celebrate and promote a sense of inclusion. Some of the entries from pupils in Year 7 and 9 are shown here. Well done to Angel R, Liyam G, Mehdi U, Manahil W and Imad M for creating their designs and we wish them luck in the competition.
